About White House
Why is White House TN called White House? A two-story inn on the stagecoach route between Nashville and Louisville (now US 31-W) was famously painted white which gave the community its name. “White House” was adopted by the US postal service in 1835. Today a replica of the White House Inn serves as the office of the White House Chamber of Commerce on Highway 76.
The city of White House straddles both I-65 and the county line between Sumner County and Robertson County. The community is served by county schools from each school district as well as a private K-12 school.
White House had a population of 12,982 in the 2020 census. Median home prices have consistently risen year-over-year for over a decade.
